If you’re on iOS 16 and have noticed that your iPhone Home Screen wallpaper is blurry, don’t worry! It’s not a bug, but a new feature that applies blur to your Home Screen background.

The blur effect on the home screen is actually a cool feature that improves readability and makes the app icons stand out. It’s great for people who prefer a clean home screen with a subtle background, as it resembles the App Library.

However, if you prefer a non-blurry home screen with a minimalist wallpaper, you may want to turn off the blur. Apple doesn’t provide an option to adjust the intensity of the blur, but there’s a way to remove it.

Fortunately, iOS 16 allows you to turn off the blur effect on your home screen. Here’s how you can do it:

How to remove blur from Home Screen in iOS 16

  1. Go to Settings > Wallpaper.
  2. Tap on “Customize” under the Home Screen section.
  3. Tap on the “Blur” icon at the extreme right to remove the blur from your current home screen. You’ll see the change immediately.
  4. Hit ‘Done’ to apply the changes.

That’s it! The blur effect will now be removed from your current home screen wallpaper.

Note: Since blur is applied to the home screen by default, you’ll need to disable it every time you create a new lock screen.

How to unblur Home Screen from iOS 16 Lock Screen

If you want to remove the blur for the Home Screen when applying a new Lock Screen, follow these steps:

  1. Touch and hold (long-press) an empty area on the lock screen while your iPhone is unlocked.
  2. Tap the + button to add a new Lock Screen and choose the desired wallpaper. You can also use Photo Shuffle to set multiple wallpapers.
  3. Tap the ‘Add‘ button at the top-right corner.
  4. Select the “Customize Home Screen” option instead of “Set as Wallpaper Pair”.
  5. Tap the Blur button at the very right to disable the blur effect. The blur icon will change from blue to gray.
  6. Hit ‘Done’ to apply the changes.

And voila! Your home screen background will appear normally without any blur.
